New Decade.

2010

Hands for peace.

I like 2010 so far. It's a nice, new start.

My goal for this blog is to provide everyone with the ability to be happier, healthier, and empowered.

I believe life happiness and health go hand in hand. It's like the chicken or the egg, it's impossible to separate the two. Really, they shouldn't be separated at all. I want to wake up every day and have that certain zest for life that can't quite be explained. I'm going to try to write down what makes each day wonderful. Ideas for anyone out there that will make life a little tastier, and a little happier.

Mind food:
As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let us down, probably will. You'll have your heart broken and you'll break others' hearts. You'll fight with your best friend or maybe even fall in love with them, and you'll cry because time is flying by. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, forgive freely, and love like you've never been hurt. Life comes with no guarantees, no time outs, no second chances. you just have to live life to the fullest, tell someone what they mean to you and tell someone off, speak out, dance in the pouring rain, hold someone's hand, comfort a friend, fall asleep watching the sun come up, stay up late, be a flirt, and smile until your face hurts. Don't be afraid to take chances or fall in love and most of all, live in the moment because every second you spend angry or upset is a second of happiness you can never get back.

Body Food:

Bacon, cheese, and potato bake
this recipe is very simple and very delicious. My mom loves to make it on a day when no one feels like moving, sounds like something for a Sunday to me!

You need:
  • A couple potatoes (no need to cook them yet)
  • cheddar cheese, or your favorite kind of cheese or cheeses.
  • Any kind of bacon...I like turkey bacon because it's not so fatty, but it tastes great. OR pre-made bacon bits from the store.
  • A baking dish, depending on how much you want to prepare. Make it small enough (or large enough) that you can layer 3 layers of potatoes in it.
What to do:
  • Preheat oven to 345
  • Start getting your bacon ready (UNLESS you are using the store bought bacon bits) . Get out a skillet and turn it to medium heat. Add your strips of bacon and let them brown on both sides. Take them off heat and place on a paper towel. We'll use them in a few moments. Don't discard the grease in the skillet yet.
  • Use the bacon fat in the skillet to grease your baking dish. Or use a spray kind if you prefer that or are using store bought bacon bits.
  • Get your potatoes clean and start slicing them in thin, thin, slices. Cut up enough right now to fill the bottom of the dish. Lay the potatoes slightly overlapping until the entire bottom of the dish is covered.
  • Cut your bacon into small pieces and sprinkle of the potatoes.
  • Grate enough cheese to cover this layer of potatoes and bacon.
  • Cut enough potatoes to cover the second layer, sprinkle more bacon, and grate more cheese.
  • Repeat one last time.
  • Pop into the oven for about 45 minutes or until you can stick a fork into the dish and the potatoes are soft, enjoy!
